How To Make A Bow Tie Headband
1/13What You Need
-Plain hard headband
-2 vintage patterned ties
-Fabric Scissors
-Fabric glue
-Hair clips
2/13Cut Bottom Of Tie
Choose the tie that will be the fabric for the base of the headband. Cut an inch or two off of the bottom of the tie, just above the folded point.
3/13Cover Headband With Tie
Insert one end of the headband into the tie. Guide the tie around so that it covers the entire headband, with an inch of extra fabric on the end you started with.
4/13Cut Tie End
Cut the tie about in inch away from the end of the headband.
5/13Cut Section From Original Tie
Cut about an 8-inch section from the remainder of the tie, and set it aside.
6/13Glue Ends
Apply a bit of glue at the inside of the headband, right above the cut end. Fold the excess tie over and hold in place with a clip while the glue dries. Repeat on the other side.
7/13Cut Second Tie
Cut the second tie about a foot from the widest end, right where the shape gets to its narrowest point.
8/13Fold And Glue Tie
With the inside of the tie facing up, fold the wide point to the center to form half a bow. Apply a small amount of glue, and hold it in place with your hand or another clip.
9/13Fold And Glue Other End
Fold the other end over to form the second half of the bow. Trim any excess, and glue in place.
10/13Pinch Center And Create Folds
Pinch the center of the bow, and then fold up the side edges to create folds.
11/13Glue Bow On Fabric Strip
Place the bow over the strip of fabric cut from the first tie and glue in place.
12/13The Finished Headband
13/13Secure Bow To Headband
Place the bow where you want it to sit on the headband, and tightly wrap the strip around the headband. Add glue to secure in place and cut any excess fabric.
