How to Make Chevron Flip-Flops
1/10What You Need
-One pair of foam flip-flops
-Painter's tape with a 3/4-inch width
-Scissors
-Oil-based paint markers in various colors
2/10Cut the Tape
Cut the tape into 12 to 15 pieces that measure about one-and-a-half inches in length. Make the cut at a right angle to the tape edge so that the pieces look like little rectangles.
3/10Place the Tape
Beginning at the front of the shoe, place a piece of tape at an angle and press down firmly around all the edges.
4/10Add Chevron Rows
Start the next row the same way as the first, leaving a small gap between them. Continue adding rows until you've covered the footbed. If you want to mix it up, you can vary the amount of space between each row.
5/10Overlap the Tape
Place the next piece of tape so it overlaps with the first piece; the long side of the second piece should lay flat over the short side of the first. Press firmly around the edges! Continue across the shoe, creating a chevron stripe.
6/10Wrap Tape Around the Sole
Wrap tape around the sole of the shoe.
7/10Color in the Stripes
Color in the first stripe with one of the paint markers. Repeat on the rest of the stripes, alternating your colors (we chose three!). Allow the paint to dry, and go over any dull or missed areas with a second marker coat
8/10Peel off the Tape
Carefully peel off the tape.
9/10Wrap Tape Around the Toe-Separator
Also wrap tape around the part of the strap that connects to the footbed.
10/10The Finished Flip-Flops
