DIY A Flower Barrette
1/9What You Need
Roughly four fake roses in colors you like – you may need more or less depending on the size of your barrette
One flat plastic hair barrette. Be sure to test it in your hair first to make sure it's the right size!
A hot glue gun
Scissors or wire cutters
A nail file
2/9Prep the barrette
Use the nail file to rough up the surface of the barrette. A scratched up surface will help the hot glue stick.
3/9Cut the flowers
Using your scissors or wire cutters, clip the rose blossoms off the stems right at the base of the flower. If there is a wire inside the stem, you will need wire cutters.
4/9Heat up the glue gun
Once you have clipped off all of your roses, plug in the hot glue gun and allow it to heat up. Be very careful with the glue gun! Once the gun is hot, place a small dot of glue on the end of the barrette.
5/9Glue the first flower
Smush the end of the rose down into the glue and hold in place until it is secure.
6/9Glue the rest of the flowers
Place another dot of glue next to the base of the first rose. You might need to use a largish glob of glue to secure the rose. Work all the way down the barrette, putting the roses in place along the length of the clip one-by-one.
7/9Remove extra glue
Allow the clip to dry thoroughly, and then go along the edges of the barrettes removing any strings and spider webs of dried glue.
8/9Secure the flowers
Once you have your roses in place, turn the barrette on its side and place extra glue in between the roses and along the sides of the flowers. When you're finished, un-plug the glue gun.
