FEBRUARY 5, 2007 — He's the ultimate quick change artist, and for fall Marc Jacobs swung the pendulum yet again. Bye bye piled on layers and frills. The Marc girl is on a diet. The plats du jour? Lean, belted coats with pointed collars and streamlined tunics over slim pants. Even the new bags are x-ray thin. But there's always room for dessert, and for after hours cravings Jacobs served up plenty to satisfy everyone. There were sequined garconnes shirts with tudo pants and dresses decked out with origami-like bows and finished off with elbow-length opera gloves—proof positive that a little restraint goes a long way. —JANE KELTNER
