How to Make a Painted Geometric T-shirt
1/12What You Need
-A white T-shirt
-Two colors of fabric paint
-Two foam brushes
-Masking tape
-A ruler
-A piece of cardboard
2/12Insert Cardboard
Slide the cardboard inside the T-shirt.
3/12Secure the Cardboard
Tape around the neck of the shirt and the sleeve seams to protect these areas from paint.
4/12Add More Tape Lines
Using the first tape lines as guides, add more lines across the shirt. Keep them parallel and straight to create a diamond pattern.
5/12Apply Tape Lines
Lay the ruler horizontally across the bottom of the shirt. Apply tape lines from the center of the collar to where the ruler meets the edge of the shirt on each side. The ruler will help to keep the angled tape even!
6/12Apply a Horizontal Tape Line
Tape a horizontal line across the bottom diamond of the pattern, halving it into a triangle shape.
7/12Fill in the Diamonds
Fill in the insides of the diamonds with paint.
8/12Paint the Diamond Edges
Dip the brush into the first color of paint, and paint inside the edges of the diamonds in a dabbing motion.
9/12Create a Row of Rectangles
When the paint is dry, remove the bottom horizontal piece of tape. Add small vertical strips of tape below the diamond pattern, as well as a clean piece of horizontal tape, to create a row of rectangles at the bottom of the shirt.
10/12The Finished T-shirt
11/12Remove the Tape
Once the paint is fully dry, remove all the tape to see your design. Follow the instructions on your paint and heat set if necessary.
12/12Fill in the Shapes
Fill in these shapes with the second color of paint, again in a dabbing motion.
