How To Make A Velvet Pearl Headband
1/12What You Need
-Plain headband
-2 feet of velvet ribbon, the same width as your headband
-Pearl beads
-Binder clip
-E6000 Glue
-Scissors
-Wire cutters
-Thin gold wire
-Toothpicks (not pictured)
2/12Cut Velvet
Cut a length of velvet a few inches longer than the headband.
3/12Press Ribbon Over Glue
Press the ribbon over the glue, folding over the inside. Use the binder clip to keep the velvet in place at the bottom end.
4/12Cut Wire
Cut a length of velvet a few inches longer than the headband.
5/12Apply More Glue
Apply glue on a few more inches of the headband.
6/12Apply Glue
Apply a bit of glue with the toothpick a few inches in on one end of the headband, and about 1/4-inch on the inside.
7/12Insert Wire
Insert the wire between the headband and the velvet so it sticks out on one side. Press the velvet into the glue.
8/12String First Pearl
String a pearl onto the wire and wrap the wire around the headband so the pearl sits on top of the velvet.
9/12Add More Pearls
Pull the wire all the way around, then add another pearl and wrap again. Continue adding the pearls and wrapping the wire, gluing down a few more inches of ribbon as you come to the end of each section.
10/12Cut And Tuck Wire
When you have added pearls all the way to a few inches from the other end, apply more glue, cut the end of the wire, and tuck it in before you press down the velvet.
11/12Fold Velvet
Cut the length of velvet with just enough length to fold over to the inside. Fold the velvet and hold in place with the binder clip. The other side should be dry enough by now to hold on its own. Allow the glue to dry completely before wearing.
